Accessing Funding Through the American Cancer Society

AMA Laboratories, Inc., based in New City, New York, is a cosmetics testing lab that has been in operation since 1984. In addition to providing businesses with a range of options for testing their products, AMA Laboratories, Inc. is also a supporter of the American Cancer Society.

Since its inception in 1979, the American Cancer Society aims to educate the public regarding the prevention, early detection, and effective treatment of skin cancer. The organization is considered one of the premier sources for up-to-date information regarding skin cancer. The organization’s success is due to collaboration among professionals in a number of fields, including physicians, researchers, and corporate partners.

In addition to disseminating information, the organization funds grant for skin cancer-related research. Established in 1981, the Society’s Research Grants Program provides stipends for research in skin cancer breakthroughs. The projects are funded for one year within dermatological departments at US medical institutions.

The types of projects the Society funds are basic research and clinical studies. The focus of these studies is the prevention and detection of skin cancer. Those eligible to apply include residents, fellows, and junior investigators.
