AMA Laboratories, Inc., is a clinical testing lab that also assists cosmetic companies with their marketing plans. Outside of lab work, AMA Laboratories, Inc., is affiliated with the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), an organization that has driven innovation through research since its inception in 1817.
One of the NYAS programs - 1000 Girls, 1000 Futures - attracts girls to STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) programs that include mentoring and skill development. Girls between 13 and 17 who are enrolled in or interested in joining a STEM program are eligible. Women who work in STEM careers who are interested in acting as mentors, coaches, or role models are encouraged to join.
Scientists and engineers lead the girls through a learning management system called Schoology. This program gives students coursework on college readiness, critical thinking, communication skills, and leadership. Students participating in the program build a network of STEM professionals through Schoology, online events, social interactions, and activities such as an optional book club.
